U.S.-Benin Bilateral Talks

Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage met today with Benin Foreign Minister Antoine Kalowole Idji on the margins of regularly scheduled U.S.-Benin bilateral talks being held in Washington, D.C.

Discussions touched on Benin's assistance to the U.S. and the coalition in the fight against terror, as well as West African regional issues and Benin's economy.

Benin's transition to a genuinely democratic system of government is a shining example to its region and all of Africa.
