U.S. Monitors All Groups That Engage in Violence, Terrorism

Response to question taken Feb 8 at State Dept briefing

Following is the text of the response from the State Department spokesman's office to a taken question February 8 about the designation of foreign terrorist organizations:

Terrorist Groups: Will the U.S. Add Additional Palestinian Groups

Question: Are we looking to add other Palestinian groups to the list of terrorist organizations?

Answer: We continue to monitor the activities of all groups that engage in violence and claim terrorist attacks and routinely review groups for possible designation as foreign terrorist organizations. The designation of a group requires an exhaustive administrative record to demonstrate that it meets he strict guidelines of the implementing legislation.
