State Says Iran Continues to Support Terrorists

Says Hizballah, Palestinian rejectionist groups backed by Iran

Following is the text of a question taken January 4 at the State Department press briefing regarding Iranian support for terrorist groups and the State Department's response:

Iran: Support for Palestinian Terrorist Groups

Question: Has Iran been involved in supporting Palestinian terrorist groups during the past few months?

Answer: Iran continues to provide Lebanese Hizballah and the Palestinian rejectionist groups -- notably HAMAS, the Palestine Islamic Jihad, and Ahmad Jibril's PFLP-GC -- with varying amounts of funding, safehaven, training, and weapons.
