Ambassador Chamberlin Thanks Pakistani Leader for SupportNotes President Musharraf's commitment to fight terrorismU.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Wendy Chamberlin has thanked Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for Pakistan's deep sympathy and support following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. Following is the text of the Chamberlin statement issued in Islamabad September 13:
U.S. Ambassador Thanks President Musharraf for Unstinted Support
Pakistan conveyed its deep sympathy and unstinted support to the United States yet again today following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington last Tuesday (September 11). This was conveyed by President General Pervez Musharraf to the new U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan who presented her credentials to the President this morning. Expressing his deep sympathy with the government and the people of the United States. President Musharraf said, his heart goes out to all the American people and in particular to the families of those who lost their lives including a number of Pakistanis resident in New York. He extended Pakistan's firm assurance to work together with the United States and the rest of the world to combat terrorism. Pakistan opposes terrorism everywhere and will not hesitate to join in any effort to eliminate this evil, he reiterated. The U.S. Ambassador thanked President Pervez Musharraf for his sentiments, sympathy and support.
