New Report Shows Cost of Internet Scams

Nearly 43 percent of all reported Internet fraud comes from auction fraud, according to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center's annual data trends report.

The IFCC, a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), today released on 9 April the annual compilation of information on complaints received from victims and referred to law enforcement during its first full year of operation. Corporate Losses to Cybercrime Increasing

In a survey of private companies and government agencies across the United States, 90 percent of the 503 organizations responding report that their computer systems have been violated in some way over the past year.

The survey was conducted by the private group Computer Security Institute (CSI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
