Text: Congress Passes Short-Term Spending Resolution
(Omnibus package due for December 6 House vote, with correction) (230)

The Senate and House of Representatives approved November 24 a temporary spending bill that will keep the U.S. government running through December 8, and give legislators time to make a correction to the spending package approved by both chambers on November 20.

The $388.4 billion omnibus bill provides funding for much of the U.S. government for the fiscal year that began on October 1 and runs through September 2005. The temporary spending bill is a stopgap measure often used by Congress to keep government agencies funded until formal appropriations legislation can be passed and signed into law by the president.

The Senate has already approved the corrected version of the omnibus bill; the House is scheduled to vote on it December 6.

Making further continuing appropriations for the fiscal year 2005, and for other purposes.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That Public Law 108-309 is further amended by striking the date specified in section 107(c) and inserting the following: "December 8, 2004".
