IIP Offers Bush Administration Transition Website
(Thematic offices to offer speakers on policy developments) (160)
By Alexandra Abboud
Washington File Staff Writer
As the U.S. focuses on the Bush administration as it moves from its first term to its second, IIP plans to prepare occasional backgrounders to assist international audiences to understand the actual changes that are taking place and their context in the U.S. political system.
IIP/T/DHR has posted a transition Web site where unfolding developments will be highlighted, including information on departing officials and on new personnel. It can be accessed at: http://usinfo.state.gov/special/transition.html
Thematic offices have identified potential speakers -- a program informally called "Looking Ahead" -- who can talk about possible developments in policy areas, and who can talk about the current U.S. political and social climate, especially in DVC programs. A backgrounder on the upcoming legislative agenda will appear on the Washington File on November 15. IIP welcomes post ideas on topics and issues to cover in support of this effort.
