Question: Have there been any requests for assistance from countries affected by avian influenza?
Answer: We are aware of one request for assistance from countries affected by avian influenza. Following a request from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent a team of scientists, including from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to assist in the investigation on January 18. They are collaborating with the World Health Organization (WHO) team also in country.
