Text: U.S. Gives Korean Red Cross $50,000 for Disaster Relief

The U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) Office Of Foreign Disaster Assistance September 15 approved the provision of $50,000 to the headquarters of the Korean Red Cross for immediate disaster relief and rehabilitation activities from Typhoon Maemi.

STATEMENT BY J. ADAM ERELI, DEPUTY SPOKESMAN
South Korea: U.S. Gives $50,000 For Typhoon Disaster Relief
On September 12-13 Typhoon Maemi struck the Republic of Korea, causing many deaths, displacement of people, and enormous property damage. In response, USAID's Office Of Foreign Disaster Assistance on September 15 approved providing $50,000 to the headquarters of the Korean Red Cross for immediate disaster relief and rehabilitation activities.
We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of this unfortunate natural disaster. We stand ready to support Korea in its efforts during this difficult period.
