President Bush October 9 announced his intention to nominate J. Cofer Black to be Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Department of State.

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate J. Cofer Black to be Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Department of State with the Rank and Status of Ambassador at Large. Black has served with the Central Intelligence Agency since 1974. His assignments have included service as Director of the Counterterrorist Center since 1999, and Deputy Chief of the Latin America Division. He received an undergraduate and master 's degree from the University of Southern California.
