Text: U.S., Japan, S. Korea to Hold Policy Coordination Meeting

Representatives from the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea will hold a meeting of the Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group (TCOG) in Tokyo April 9 to discuss a range of issues related to policy toward the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group to Meet April 9, 2002

The Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group (TCOG) will meet in Tokyo, Japan, April 9. Delegations representing the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea -- led respectively by James A. Kelly, Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; Hitoshi Tanaka, Director General, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Lee Tae-shik, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade -- will discuss a range of issues in our ongoing coordination of policy toward the DPRK.

The April 9 trilateral meeting is part of a continuing process of close and cooperative consultations among the three countries, formalized in Hawaii in April, 1999, as the Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group.
