International Conference on Promoting Foreign Direct Investment for Development

The Governments of the United States of America and the People's Republic of China have the intention to co-sponsor an International Conference on Promoting Foreign Direct Investment for Development in November, 2002, in Shanghai, China, as follow-up to the International Conference on Financing for Development.

The theme of the Conference is to promote foreign direct investment for development by exchanging views and experience and drawing upon expertise of international organizations and bilateral assistance agencies active in investment capacity building. Enabling international and domestic environments that encourage foreign direct investment will be highlighted.

We look forward to the essential participation and contribution of a broad range of representatives from the business sector, government officials, scholars, experts, and NGOs from both developing and developed countries.
