Following is the text of a January 17 State Department announcement on an upcoming meeting in Seoul, Korea of the Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group (TCOG):

STATEMENT BY LYNN L. CASSEL, ACTING SPOKESWOMAN
TRILATERAL COORDINATION AND OVERSIGHT GROUP TO MEET JANUARY 25, 2002
The Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group (TCOG) will meet in Seoul, Korea, January 25. Delegations representing the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the United States -- led respectively by Yim Sung-joon, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Hitoshi Tanaka, Director General, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and James A. Kelly, Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs -- will discuss a range of issues in our ongoing coordination of policy toward the DPRK.
The January 25 trilateral meeting is part of a continuing process of close and cooperative consultations among the three countries, formalized in Hawaii in April, 1999, as the Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group.
