U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Office of the Spokesman

Question Taken at October 29, 2001 Daily Press Briefing
NO CONFIRMATION OF ZEIMAN ZAWAHIRI'S PRESENCE IN KOSOVO
Question: Do we have any comment on the brother of Ayman Al Zawahiri and his alleged activities in Kosovo? Would he be apprehended?
Answer: We have no information that Zeiman Zawahiri has been in Kosovo. As a general matter, KFOR would in accordance with its mandate detain anyone considered to be a threat to a safe and secure environment. The UN Interim Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) is similarly authorized to arrest and prosecute those suspected of engaging in terrorist activities in Kosovo.
