Congressional Report: Tropical Forest Conservation Act

The Senate passed by unanimous consent July 23 H.R. 2131, the bill to reauthorize the Tropical Forest Conservation Act of 1998 through fiscal year 2004.
Senator Harry Reid (Democrat of Nevada) brought the bill up for action in the Senate with a request for immediate consideration of H.R. 2131.
The bill, introduced into the House of Representatives by Representative Robert Portman (Republican of Ohio) June 12, would reauthorize the Tropical Forest Conservation Act of 1998 through fiscal year 2004 with funding set at $50,000,000 for fiscal year 2002; $75,000,000 for fiscal year 2003; $100,000,000 for fiscal year 2004.
