(Committee acts on Bolton, Dobriansky, Bloomfield, nominations) (140)
Four Bush administration nominees for senior State Department posts were approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee April 26. The nominations now go to the full Senate for final action.
The four approved by the committee are: John Robert Bolton, under secretary-designate for arms control and international security affairs; Paula Dobriansky, under secretary-designate for global affairs; Lincoln Bloomfield, assistant secretary-designate for political-military affairs; and Richard Haass, nominated to hold the rank of ambassador while serving as director of the State Department's policy planning staff.
The full Senate is expected to act shortly on the nominations.
