THE PROSECUTOR MEETS U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE, MR. COLIN POWEL

The Prosecutor, Ms Carla Del Ponte, met in Brussels this morning with the US Secretary of State, Mr. Colin Powel. It was the first contact with the new US Administration and the Prosecutor was satisfied with the content of the meeting. The recent developments relevant to the ICTY and the ICTR, US support to both Tribunals, and the issue of cooperation of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with the ICTY were discussed.

In the afternoon, The Prosecutor is embarking on a one and a half-day visit to Stockholm, Sweden, the current holder of the EU Presidency.
