Antidumping Duties Rejected for Indonesian Polystyrene Beads
(USITC finds, 6-0, no injury to U.S. industry) (140)

Washington -- The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has rejected antidumping duties on imports of expandable polystyrene resins from Indonesia.

In a 6-0 vote December 12, the commissioners determined that evidence of injury to the U.S. industry did not suffice even to allow the investigation to continue past this first stage.

U.S. imports of such polystyrene beads from Indonesia amounted in 1999 to $3.6 million, about 1.1 percent of U.S. market share.

As a result of the negative determination, the USITC and Commerce Department investigations will close and no antidumping duties will be imposed.
