Following is the text of a White House statement on the delay of President Clinton's trip to Japan for the G8 Summit:

STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

The President regrets he will have to delay his trip to Japan for one day. The President will now leave Thursday morning and will arrive in Japan for the opening of the G8 Summit on Friday. The President believes this is in the best interest of the Middle East Peace Process.
