State Department Spokesman James Rubin announced February 9 that Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott will travel to Japan and China February 14-18.

STATEMENT BY JAMES P. RUBIN, SPOKESMAN

TRAVEL TO JAPAN AND CHINA BY DEPUTY SECRETARY TALBOTT

Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott will travel to Japan and China February 14-18. He will be accompanied by Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Walter Slocombe, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Ralston, and Deputy National Security Advisor James Steinberg.

In Tokyo, the Deputy Secretary and his colleagues will meet with officials of the Government of Japan for talks on policy coordination and a strategic dialogue on regional and global issues.

In Beijing, the Deputy Secretary and his colleagues will engage in strategic dialogue with Chinese officials on regional and global issues and review issues in the bilateral relationship.
