Text: Treasury Secretary Summers' trip to India, Indonesia, Japan
(Will attend G-7 finance ministers meeting in Tokyo) (300)
U.S. Secretary of Treasury Lawrence Summers will visit India and Indonesia prior to attending the Group of Seven (G-7) industrialized nations finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Tokyo on January 22.
In India, Summers will visit Mumbai (Bombay) on January 17, New Delhi, January 18 and Bangalore, January 19. He will then travel to Jakarta, Indonesia.
The January 22 meeting in Tokyo is one of the four regular meetings of the G-7 finance ministers and central bank governors held each year. Alan Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve System, will be attending.

Secretary Summers to Visit India, Indonesia and Japan
Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers will visit India and Indonesia prior to attending the G-7 Finance Ministers' meeting in Tokyo, Japan, on January 22. While in the region, he will meet with government officials and business leaders.
In India, Secretary Summers will visit Bombay (Jan. 17), New Dehli (Jan. 18) and Bangalore (Jan. 19). He will speak to the Confederation of Indian Industry at 5 p.m. Monday, January 17 at the Taj Hotel in Bombay.
Following India, the Secretary will travel to Jakarta, Indonesia, and will speak at a noon luncheon Thursday, January 20 jointly hosted by the Indonesian Economist Association and the American Chamber of Commerce at the Regent Hotel.
