This Web site was launched in April 2000 to highlight details of the Minority Health Initiative, a multi-year program aimed at "improving the health of minority Americans and research training programs designed to increase the numbers of under represented minorities in all aspects of biomedical and behavioral research." The site includes links to selected clinical trials, data and statistics, publications, and web sites of interest to particular minorities.

The mission of the Bureau of the Census is "to be the preeminent collector and provider of timely, relevant, and quality data about the people and economy of the United States." As part of that mission, the Bureau publishes numerous reports, statistics and studies on U.S. demographics. In addition to data from Census 2000, the Web site is divided into sections on People, Business, Geography, News and Special Topics. Several noteworthy products of the Bureau's Public Information Office include:

This Census 2000 Special Report, prepared by Cynthia Brewer and Trudy A. Suchan, synthesizes the basic patterns and changes in the U.S. racial population distribution in the last decade. Distribution maps depict White; Black or African American; American Indian and Alask Native; Asian; Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino Origin; White, Not Hispanic or Latino Origin as well as those people claiming two or more races.

American FactFinder is a gateway to population, housing, business and industry data that is available for online viewing or downloading. The statistics are derived from the Decennial Census , the American Community Survey and the 1997 Economic Census.

Census Briefs are articles describing newly issued reports, new data files and software. Highlighting developments in all census statistical areas, the briefs emphasize demographic, social, housing and economic data for dates and smaller areas.
