14 March 2002 Bush Administration Designates Bahrain as Major Non-NATO U.S. AllyFor purposes of Foreign Assistance Act, Arms Export Control Act Following is the text of a White House statement March 15 designating Bahrain as a major non-NATO U.S. ally: The White House March 14, 2002 Presidential Determination No. 2002-10 Memorandum For The Secretary Of State Subject: Designation of Bahrain as a Major Non-Nato Ally Pursuant to the authority vested in me, by section 517 of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended (the "Act"), I hereby designate the Kingdom of Bahrain as a major non-NATO ally of the United States for the purposes of the Act and the Arms Export Control Act.
