Clinton Discusses Arms Control with Russia's Foreign Minister

President Clinton held a 25-minute meeting at the White House with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov the afternoon of April 25. Following that, Ivanov met for another 20 minutes with National Security Advisor Sandy Berger said White House spokesman for foreign affairs Mike Hammer.

They discussed arms control, national missile defense, Start III, "as well as discussing our concerns about Chechnya," Hammer said.

Ivanov is in Washington for consultations in advance of the meeting in Moscow in early June between Clinton and Russia's new president, Vladimir Putin.
