Text: President Bush to Meet with Colombia's Pastrana February 27

Leaders will discuss implementation of Plan Colombia

President Bush will conduct a working visit with Colombian President Andres Pastrana at the White House February 27 "to discuss the situation in Colombia and progress in implementing Plan Colombia," the White House said in a February 14 press release. Plan Colombia is the comprehensive strategy devised by Pastrana to restore civil order and curb the illicit drug trade in his country.

STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

The President will meet with President Pastrana of Colombia for a working visit at The White House on February 27th. The visit is an opportunity for the President and President Pastrana to discuss the situation in Colombia and progress in implementing Plan Colombia. The meeting reflects President Bush's interest in the Western Hemisphere and, in particular, gives him an opportunity to express support for President Pastrana's efforts in Colombia.
