Dobriansky to Lead U.S. Delegation at Climate Change Talks

Resumed negotiations begin July 16 in Bonn

The State Department has announced that Paula Dobriansky, under secretary of state for global affairs, will lead the U.S. delegation at the resumed negotiations on climate change to be held July 16-27 in Bonn, Germany.

The following term is used in text:

COP-6.5: This refers to the resumed sixth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Bonn meeting is a continuation -- referred to as part two -- of the climate change talks suspended last November in the Hague.

U.S. Delegation to Climate Change Negotiations

The United States Delegation to resumed negotiations on climate change scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, July 16-27, will be led by Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs, Paula Dobriansky. The resumption of the sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-6.5) follows the suspension of negotiations last November in The Hague. The high-level segment of COP-6.5 will take place July 19-22.

The United States takes the issue of climate change seriously, and will work constructively under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The United States is working with our allies to develop an effective and science-based approach to addressing global climate change.
