DENVER SUMMIT MEDIA PARTY ANNOUNCED
Cherry Creek Mall to Host Massive Soiree for 5,000 International Journalists
Denver -- First Lady of Denver Wilma Webb, organizers of the Denver Summit of the Eight and officials from the Cherry Creek Mall today announced the details of a massive soiree that will be held for the more than 5,000 national and international journalists that will cover the Denver Summit of the Eight.
"It's clear that this party is an opportunity for the city and the state to impress upon the visiting media our western hospitality," Mrs. Webb said. "The visiting journalists from around the globe will leave Denver with a greater sense of our diversity, our economy, our businesses, our culture and our wonderful lifestyle. Our hope is that this party will be a grand welcoming for their Summit visit."
"Being that the Cherry Creek Mall is the No. 1 tourist attraction in Denver, we are thrilled to be hosting this event," said Nick LeMasters, Manager of Cherry Creek. "Shopping is the most popular activity for international tourists and the second most popular activity for domestic tourists, so having this event at the Cherry Creek Mall is a natural. Our overall goal is to create an event that Denver and Colorado can be proud of."
The party will be held on Thursday, June 19, the day before the official Summit begins. The party will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will feature cuisine from more than 40 local restaurants. The theme of the party will be "A Colorado Scrapbook" and located, throughout the mall will be vignettes representing several of Colorado's cultural and tourist attractions. The party will also feature live entertainment including local celebrities Lannie Garrett, Denny Dent and Stefanie Kramer. In addition, an as yet unannounced national entertainer will perform.
While the Cherry Creek Mall will be closed to the public on that evening, the stores will be open for business to the journalists attending the party.
"We want to share with these journalists the wonderful story of our city and our state," Mrs. Webb said. "The stories that are told about our community can positively effect tourism, business and our overall economy.
