TOP OF THE ROCKIES SELECTED FOR MINISTERS' MEETING SITE
Denver, Colorado -- Denver Mayor Wellington E. Webb and Denver Summit of the Eight Executive Director Debbie Willhite today announced that the Top of the Rockies has been selected as the site for meetings of both the Foreign and Finance Ministers' Meetings for the upcoming Denver Summit of the Eight which will be held June 20-22, 1997.
"We are greatly appreciative of the Top of the Rockies for agreeing to host these important meetings," Mayor Webb said. "I believe that the finance and foreign ministers will be inspired by the view they have from the Top of the Rockies. The scenic panorama exemplifies downtown Denver's new west image while also projecting the natural wonder and beauty of the Rocky Mountain West.
"The Top of the Rockies is an ideal side for the Ministers' Meetings, providing a snapshot of what Denver and the Rocky Mountain region has to offer," Willhite said. "We continue to be impressed with everything the city has to offer -- from its sweeping landscape to the dynamic involvement of its people."
Each group will meet in separate rooms on the 37th floor. A working lunch will take place in separate rooms for each group on the 38th floor. Ministers will sit at tables, shaped as a hollow square.
"The Top of the Rockies is honored to host these world dignitaries," Carole Harrison, General Manager of the Top of the Rockies said. "For many years folks from around the globe have enjoyed our view as well as our hospitality. We will work closely the Summit planners to ensure that these important meetings are a success and that Denver and Colorado are well represented by our establishment."
President Bill Clinton will host the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the Russian Federation at the Summit. The European Union will also be represented at the Summit which runs from Friday, June 20 - Sunday, June 22.
