(Consulate General to accept applications as of Jan. 18)

The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will begin accepting applications for all types of non-immigrant visas -- including business and tourist visas -- on Tuesday, January 18, 2000, the State Department said January 13.

Ho Chi Minh City Begins Full Non-immigrant Visa Processing

The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will begin accepting applications for all types of non-immigrant visas, including business and tourist visas, on Tuesday, January 18, 2000.

Visa applications will be taken by appointment only. Applicants will first have to pay a non-refundable visa application fee of US $45 at 51 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Upon payment, they will be given a fee receipt and a slip showing the date and time of their interview appointment. All interviews will be conducted at the U.S. Consulate General office building located at 4 Le Duan, District 1.

The fee collection site at 51 Nguyen Dinh Chieu will begin operations on Friday, January 14, 2000. Business hours at the site will be 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for Vietnamese and U.S. official holidays.

Applicants should be aware that both the fee collection site and the U.S. Consulate General will be closed on Monday, January 17 in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday.
