Taiwan - Sale of Javelin Anti-Tank Missiles

Question: Describe the arms sale to Taiwan reportedly notified to Congress.

Answer: On October 26, the Defense Security Agency notified Congress of a possible military sale to Taiwan of Javelin anti-tank missiles.

The Administration remains firmly committed to fulfilling the security and arms sales provisions of the Taiwan Relations Act. We will continue to assist Taiwan in meeting its legitimate defense needs in accordance with our obligations under the Taiwan Relations Act and consistent with the 1982 U.S.-PRC Communique.

This notification is fully consistent with our commitments.
