The White House released a statement April 11 regarding Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao's planned visit to Washington, DC, May 1. Vice President Hu will also be visiting Honolulu, New York, and San Francisco during his stay in the United States.

STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Visit by Vice President Hu Jintao of China

Vice President Cheney will welcome Vice President Hu Jintao of China to Washington on May 1. The United States and China both have a strong interest in maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. The Vice President looks forward to discussing a range of bilateral and global issues with Vice President Hu. In addition to official meetings in Washington, Vice President Hu will have the opportunity to talk to a diverse array of Americans during his stops in Honolulu, New York, and San Francisco.
