PRESIDENT CLINTON ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF PAUL SONG TO THE
ASIA-PACIFIC ECONOMIC COOPERATION BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL

President Clinton today announced the appointment of Paul Song of Bellevue, Washington, to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

Mr. Song is President and CEO of ARIS Corporation (NASDAQ: ARSC), an information technology company that offers consulting services, training and software to businesses and government organizations. Mr. Song was born in Seoul, Korea, and raised in California and Washington State. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from General Motors Institute and a Master's in Computer Science from MIT.

Mr. Song replaces Susan Corrales-Diaz as one of the three U.S. representatives to ABAC. The other two U.S. representatives are J. Gary Burkhead, FMR Corporation, and John (Jack) Smith, Jr. of General Motors.

APEC leaders established ABAC, the private sector arm of APEC, in 1995 to advise them on issues affecting business in the Asia-Pacific region. It is comprised of up to three senior business leaders from each of the APEC economies who report annually to APEC leaders. ABAC representatives have met with APEC leaders in each summit since the creation of the Council (at Subic Bay in 1996; at Vancouver in 1997; and at Kuala Lumpur in 1998).
