There is no one court for
intellectual property litigation. The U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office (USPTO) is the first decider for intellectual property
issues regarding patents. If a party decides to appeal, the
question goes to federal district court. It can then be appealed
to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and
ultimately to the US Supreme Court. see:
Litigation. United States
Patent and Trademark Office.

- The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit hears intellectual
property issues and other issues. Veterans' claims and personnel
matters take up more of the court's time than patent (IPR) issues.
A three-judge panel hears each case.
