Text: U.S. Sends Condolences on Death of President of Nauru

The United States expresses its deepest condolences to the people of Nauru and to the family of Bernard Dowiyogo on the passing of the President of Nauru, the State Department said in a March 10 press release.

Death of the President of Nauru

The United States expresses its deepest condolences to the people of Nauru and to the family of Bernard Dowiyogo on the passing of the President of Nauru.

President Dowiyogo passed away Sunday, March 9, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he was being treated for a heart ailment. President Dowiyogo had traveled to the United States for bilateral talks held February 26-28.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the family and the Nauru delegation. The United States is offering all possible assistance to Nauru on those arrangements.
